Academician Liu Jingnan, male, born on July 1, 1943, is a Han nationality from Changsha City, Hunan Province. He was elected to the Chinese Academy of Engineering in December 1999 and was formerly president of Wuhan University.

Academician Liu Jingnan has been engaged in geodetic coordinate system theory, satellite positioning technology theory and application for a long time. He has made unique achievements in the research of satellite geodetic technology and data processing, and is a famous expert in the field of satellite geodetic survey in China. In the 1980s, a survey theory put forward by him and his colleagues was called the "Wushu Model" in the world, which solved a series of difficult problems in the field of geodetic coordinate system transformation theory, thus drawing a successful conclusion to the international academic debate. The joint adjustment software of satellite network and ground network developed by him not only solved the pressing need of petroleum exploration department at that time, but also created enormous economic benefits. In the 1990s, he presided over the development of China's first commercialized GPS (Global Positioning System) software - "GPS Satellite Positioning Data Processing Integrated Software". At present, the software has been adopted by hundreds of units at home and abroad, occupying more than 80% of the domestic market and exporting as proprietary technology abroad. The design idea of GPS software proposed by him has been widely accepted and adopted by the international commercial software development circle of GPS. Some of his research results have become national and urban GPS survey norms. He used his "back-stepping method" to establish more accurately the trend of plate movement in the whole country. Sun Jiadong is one of the pioneers of artificial satellite technology and deep space exploration technology in China. He has been engaged in space work for 60 years and has presided over the development of 45 satellites. As the chief designer of Beidou Navigation System in China for the first and second generation projects, the network and application of Beidou Satellite Navigation System have been realized. As one of the main advocates of China's lunar exploration project, as the chief designer of the first phase of lunar exploration project, it has set a new milestone in China's space history.

In 1967, he was the technical director of China's first artificial earth satellite. In 1989, Sun Jiadong served as the head of the delegation of the Chinese rocket negotiation delegation to enter the international market.
